The administration will prepare and monitor District bus routes and schedules.  The Board will initially approve all bus routes no later than October 31 of each school year; the final bus routes must be approved by June 30 of each school year.  Buses will be routed with student safety, efficiency and economy as the controlling factors.

Buses will not be routed on dead end roads or cul-de-sacs. If the distance from the through road to the student's house is less than one-half (1/2) mile, with the following exceptions:

1. Buses will not be routed on private drives.
2. If the student is in grades K-2 and is not attended by an older student.
3. If the student is an EMR student.
4. If the student is physically handicapped in a way that impairs his/her ability to walk.
5. If the bus stops at the entrance to the dead end road or cul-de-sac is not plainly visible at a distance of 300 feet from both directions on the through road.
6. If adverse weather conditions exist (rain, snow, cold weather).
