P 1420 Community Use of School Facilities

In accordance with the law, building may be used for free discussion of public questions and subjects of general public interest, for the meeting of organizations of citizens and for such other civic, social and educational purposes as will not interfere with the use of the building for school purposes.  No part of the building is to be used without permission being granted by the superintendent/designee.

 

Applications for the use of the premises shall be made in writing and shall state the date and purpose of the use, and, if an admission charge is to be made, the purpose of raising said funds and such other information as the Board or the Superintendent may require.  Parent organizations, Scout, educational and other school activity organizations which may be granted use of certain rooms for regular meeting purposes shall not use other rooms in the building to hold meetings or entertainment on other than the regular meeting night unless written application is made for the use of same as provided above.

 

Any cancellations of reserved dates must be made in writing at least twenty-four hours before the date on which meetings are scheduled.  The Board reserves the right to cancel any arrangements for use of buildings upon due notice in advance.

 

Rental Charges

No charge will be made for any "strictly school” activities or for regular meetings of parent organizations.  No charge will be made to Scouts and similar organizations so long as no additional cost is incurred in custodial support who would not normally be on duty and if not extra work is incurred in setting up chairs, equipment, etc.

 

All rental charges for use of buildings are due and payable at least twenty-four hours before the date on which the building is to be used.  When the buildings are rented on Saturday or Sunday, an additional charge over and above the minimum charge may be required.  Other payment arrangements may be made with the Superintendent/designee.

 

Prohibitions

  1. Special permission must be received to serve meals.
  2. The sale, consumption, or possession of alcoholic beverages shall not be permitted on School District premises at any time. Nor shall any person who is in a drunken or intoxicated condition, or who is under the influence of liquor, be permitted on School District premises.  The person in charge of the meeting will be held responsible for the enforcement of this rule.
  3. Damage or breakage occurring in any building or grounds on account of the activities of an organization using it as a meeting place shall be paid for by the organization.
  4. Smoking is not permitted on school grounds.
  5. 5. The use of profane language or gambling in any form is not permitted in any school building.
  6. The use of any type of bounce house is prohibited.
  7. No adjustments to the thermostat will be made.
  8. All renters should be resident taxpayers of Lonedell R-14 School District.

 

Building Usage Fee Schedule

  1. Classroom - $15.00 per hour
  2. Gymnasiums (including playing surfaces and spectator stands only); $25.00 per hour, with a minimum charge of $50.00
  3. Cafeteria - $20.00 per hour
  4. Cafeteria including kitchen facilities - $25.00 per hour with a minimum charge of $50.00 (One of Lonedell R-14’s Kitchen Staff members must be present in order for the kitchen facility to be used) unless otherwise determined by Administration.

 

Special Charges

  1. Custodial Personnel - Will pay at current time and one-half rate plus applicable benefits
  2. Kitchen Personnel - Will pay at current time and one-half rate plus applicable benefits
  3. Security - Opening and closing of building if on weekends or if not on a school night - $25.00

 

Non-Fee Based

Organizations described below will not be charged scheduled fees except as noted by the asterisk

  1. School-sponsored activities (this includes government agencies)
  2. Non-fee-based student activities (within the school district) such as : Girl and Boy Scouts, Brownies and Cubs, 4-H, Church Youth Groups, and Little League Organizations.
  3. Non-fee adult activities (within the school district). Any service club may have the use of the school building and charge admission when the money obtained is to be used for school or community improvement.  For example, civic organizations such as Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary, Jaycees, and Optimist or private organizations doing fundraising for the school.

 

Note:  *** (1, 2 and 3) If the above groups use the facility on school days while custodians and cooks are in the building, no charges will be applied. However, if these activities occur with no custodians or cooks in the building on the weekend, an opening and closing fee, plus custodial fees or food service fees, could apply.  If these groups have need of extra cleaning due to group activities, the group may be assessed an extra custodial charge.

 

Fee Based

Outside performing groups, church groups, games, and tournaments, etc.

Note:  *** If the activity occurs on a school day, a rental and custodial fee may apply.  If the activity occurs on a non-school day, a rental, custodial, and security fee may apply.
