P 4310 General Attendance

Regular attendance is essential in providing District students with a high quality of instruction.  All full time staff will have available 9 sick days and 3 personal days leave per school year. Personal days are not to be used in April, May, or the week before Christmas break without special permission. Staff members who are employed for more than 9 months a year will receive and additional day of leave for each additional month of employment. Staff members who are not full time will receive personal leave on a prorated basis determined by the Superintendent with Board approval.  Staff may use their personal days according to Regulation 4320. However, if the staff members absent for more than 3 consecutive school days, then they must provide a doctor’s excuse for the fourth consecutive day (unless waived by administration).  If no excuse can be provided then the staff member may have a pay deduction for the fourth and any further consecutive days. As of July 1 of each year personal days will be converted to sick days.

There will be a maximum of 80 sick days that can be carried from year to year.    Staff members who leave the district and have worked for the district for a minimum of 3 years with 10 or more days of accumulated leave will be paid $10 per day for their unused days.

Certified staff will be provided up to two hours of leave for doctor appointments with administrative approval as long as classes can be covered with no additional cost to the district This  two hours of leave will not deduct from their accumulated sick or personal leave.   Classified (hourly) staff will be allowed to flex their schedule with administrative approval as needed for doctor appointments.

When employees are absent more than 10% of days in any semester or more than 25% of days per school year, their absence is considered excessive. The Superintendent/designee will review each incident of excessive absence and may require the employee to provide medical documentation or may consider disciplinary actions up to and including termination.
