Regular attendance is essential in providing District students with a high quality of instruction. Each school year, eligible full-time twelve-month staff (both certified and non-certified) will receive 13 days of Paid Time Off (PTO), full-time eleven-month employees will receive 12 days, full-time ten-month employees will receive 11 days, and full-time nine-month employees will receive 10 days. Bus drivers who drive a minimum of two routes per day will receive 3 PTO days each school year. PTO days for all eligible employees are available at the start of the school year. If an employee desires to be paid during non-paid holiday breaks, the employee may request up to five leave days per school year for this purpose.
The smallest increment this leave time can be taken in is fifteen (15) minutes.
Accrued but unused PTO days will roll over to the following school year. There is no cap on how many PTO days an employee can accumulate. At retirement, the District will pay the employee for up to 90 days of accrued but unused PTO days at a rate of
$30.00 per day.
It is the expectation of the District that employees are professional in their use of days. When an employee is absent during a given school year more days than the PTO days the employee is awarded for the school year, the employee’s absence is considered excessive. The Superintendent/designee will review each incident of excessive absence on a case-by-case basis and may require the employee to provide medical documentation or may consider disciplinary action up to and including termination.
