The administration will develop procedures to ensure that school facilities are safeguarded against criminal acts and negligent use. All District employees are responsible for the care and proper use of School District property. Maintenance personnel are responsible for the care, repair and annual maintenance of District equipment and facilities. After school access to District facilities is limited to authorized individuals and groups. The District will develop and implement school access policies and practices that control access to individual classrooms.
Anti-Intruder Interior Door Locks
Provided the General Assembly appropriates funds specifically to cover all costs related to equipping such locks, the District will equip each interior school door with an anti-intruder door lock. Notwithstanding provision of such funds, the District may receive donations of funds for the voluntary purchase of anti-intruder door locks. Each interior door installed after August 28, 2029 will be equipped with anti-intruder door locks.
The District may equip each school with one or more master key boxes. Such boxes will contain the necessary keys and tools for use by law enforcement and fire protection agencies. The District may accept donations earmarked for the purchase of master key boxes.
